In progressChalcogenide Memristor Reservoir
Physical reservoir computing substrate for tardigrade_agent
Overview
A chalcogenide memristor array used as a physical reservoir computing substrate, feeding into the tardigrade_agent PPO + Clifford geometric-algebra control stack. The reservoir supplies nonlinear temporal dynamics in hardware rather than simulating them, reducing the compute load carried by the software side of the agent.
Architecture
- Chalcogenide memristor crossbar array as the physical reservoir
- Read/write interface exposing reservoir state to the PPO training loop
- Clifford geometric-algebra layer sitting between reservoir output and the policy network
- Integration point with tardigrade_agent for BOUT++ plasma control tasks
Open questions
- Device-to-device variability characterization across the array
- Long-term drift compensation for the memristor states
- Formal comparison of reservoir-in-hardware vs. simulated-reservoir performance
